Today is World Turtle Day, an annual event dedicated to bringing attention to turtles and tortoises, and to encouraging human action to help them thrive. All over the globe, people celebrate by wearing green, participating in turtle-themed research activities and craft projects, and dressing up as turtles.

Here at Viacom, we love turtles. And on a daily basis we celebrate one species in particular – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A recent study by the international market research firm KidzGlobal found that kids 14 and under around the world are channeling their turtle power.

The pizza-loving Heroes in a Half Shell are most popular in Australia, Russia, South Africa, Turkey and Philippines. In these countries, over 60% of kids are familiar with them – and at least 1 in 4 of them owns a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle product.

On this World Turtle Day, we hope children around the world are using their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle gear with pride in recognition of this noteworthy cause.
